Over the last few months we’ve been busy growing the Knighton team – for all the right reasons! Hellos and goodbyes
After 13 years of commitment and hard work, Terry Preston has happily retired to enjoy travelling and spending more time with his family. Terry has been a friendly face in the
Stirling Cane joined in 2023 to provide very much needed and appreciated internal sales support. Daniel Jeffrey and Simon Martin joined the warehouse and delivery team in February. Derby born and bred Daniel brings extensive experience (plus a love of pineapple pizza – each to his own!) and dog-loving fisherman, Simon Martin, used to be a delivery driver for Krispy Kreme. What he doesn’t know about doughnuts isn’t worth knowing!
Knighton warehouse for 13 years. After undertaking many roles, Terry became firmly established as Knighton’s machine repair wizard - a mantle that has now been passed over to Nigel Spiers. All the best Terry!
This year we’re going to be launching a brand new range of washroom dispensing systems to complement our existing ranges. The new systems are being carefully chosen for their cost-in-use and sustainability values.

The magic of microfibre
Microfibre is a synthetic material that can magically leave surfaces clean and germ free with no chemicals or water. This hardworking cloth uses millions of minute fibres and a static electric charge to pick up and trap dirt and bacteria, removing pathogens and germs other cloths would leave behind.
General surface cleaning Used dry, a microfibre cloth makes a great duster, picking everything up and holding on to it, unlike a traditional duster that prefers to share the dust around. Used damp, the cloth will clean and remove germs with just water or a small amount of mild cleaning chemical - remember, it’s the cloth doing the hard work, not the cleaning agent. Microfibre can easily hold up to eight times its weight in water, leaving a shiny, streak free finish that’s completely free of moisture.
Glass cleaning Glass cleaning cloths have a flat weave that still picks up dirt and bacteria, but doesn’t hold onto it, ensuring glass and screens are protected from scratches.
Keep the magic Treating your microfibre to regular and appropriate washing will keep the magic working for around 500 washes versus around 30 washes for a cotton socket mop.
Floor mopping The water guzzling microfibre makes light work of floor cleaning, soaking up spillages with ease. This leaves floors clean and dry much quicker and reduces mop wringing and bucket refilling for operatives. A 2022 study at the University of California Davis Medical Centre found microfibre mops used 95% less water than cotton socket mops and achieved a 20% daily labour saving. To maintain floors, dry dust
mopping is often all that’s needed. For higher traffic areas and heavy
soiling, a damp mop with water or mild chemical will do the trick.

Knighton Konnect
Download Basket feature Knighton Konnect offers numerous tools and features, all designed to help make life easier for our customers. To help you decide which aspects of Konnect are more relevant and helpful to you, we’re going to use this section to showcase a particular feature. This time we’re looking at the A function that enables you to fill up your basket and then download the contents to email before completing the order. When could you use it? It’s a very simple and quick way to get orders checked or authorised before being processed. Download Basket. What is it?
How would you use it? Log into your Konnect, fill up your basket, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘download basket’ instead of ‘place order’. Then simply add the email address or addresses you’d like the basket contents to be sent to. How will it benefit you? • D raft purchase orders can be created for authorisation and onward processing. • Use with your own internal ordering system or re-upload to Konnect and check out. • Y ou’ll no longer need any out of date price lists.

Staff Spotlight
Getting to know Bonita Lloyd
Bonita joined the Knighton team in April 2023 as an Executive Assistant to the leadership team but this role has since evolved, and in the last couple of months she has taken on responsibility for managing HR.
What was your pre-Knighton life like? Before Knighton, I was EA in the technology department of a larger corporate company. The two years I spent in this position, coupled with numerous training opportunities, gave me great insight into ‘big business principles’, as well as some basic IT fixes; which have proved useful since. What is your present Knighton life like? Following some internal changes at the beginning of the year, the focus of my role has been around the Knighton Team. As part of this I have been refining the systems we use to manage all our HR needs as well as implementing some new processes that work together to make the employee journey of our staff more meaningful and enjoyable. Here at Knighton, we know if we look after our people, they’ll look after our customers.
How do you see your future Knighton life? Being one of the newest members to join the team, there’s still a lot to learn. However, through training and first-hand experience from colleagues who have been in the business longer, I’m confident we can work together to take the business to the next level. To help support and drive this change, our newly created Value Champions team is a group of employees that have been selected to champion Knighton’s values. I’m looking forward to working with them to bring in further positive initiatives that will benefit all team members and customers alike. How would you sum up your Knighton life in one sentence? Showing the same level of care to staff that we do to customers, so the inside reflects the outside.
